Evil Trivia ("we", "us") operates eviltrivia.com and the @eviltrivia Instagram account.
This policy describes what information we collect and how we use it.
Information we collect
- Account information. If you create an account on eviltrivia.com, we store your
email address, name, and site role (for example patron or grader) in our database.
- Patreon information. If you choose to connect your Patreon account, we store your
Patreon ID, membership tier, and membership status so we can grant patron features.
- Trivia and game data. Team names, scores, and answers from trivia nights and
on-site games are stored to run scoring, leaderboards, and archives.
- Instagram challenge submissions. If you send us a photo for the weekly Instagram
challenge (by direct message or through tools we use to manage our inbox), we store the
photo, your Instagram username, and any message text you include, in order to award
challenge points and keep a record of participation.
- Email alert signups. If you sign up for new-round email alerts (for example on
the InVennTions game page), we store your email address for the sole purpose of sending
those alerts. We never use the address for marketing or share or sell it, and every
alert includes a one-click unsubscribe link that permanently deletes your address from
the list.
- Technical data. Our hosting and analytics providers (Google Firebase) may log
standard technical information such as IP addresses and browser type. We use local storage
in your browser to keep you signed in and remember preferences.
How we use information
- To run trivia nights, games, grading, and the weekly Instagram challenge.
- To grant access to member features (for example Patreon-supported content).
- To maintain archives of past trivia events.
We do not sell your information. We do not use your information for advertising.
Third-party services
We rely on the following services to operate: Google Firebase (hosting, database, storage,
authentication), Patreon (membership verification), and Meta platforms (Instagram) for the
weekly challenge. Each operates under its own privacy policy.
Data retention and deletion
We keep data only as long as it is useful for running Evil Trivia. To request deletion of
your account data, your Instagram challenge submissions, or anything else we hold about you,
email info@eviltrivia.com and we will remove it.
